Check out our video from
last year's camps! (Thanks Daye and Justin for putting this together!)
"My son,
Jesse just came back from the surfcamp. He told me all about it,
and just can't wait to go back again. In other words; he loved it! I am
very impressed too. A big THANK YOU! "
Small groups participate in
a wide spectrum of activities. Experienced staff share their knowledge
of and love for the environment, teaching students the intricate
balance within the ecosystem. It's fun, exciting, educational and
challenging!

Day Camp This
camp is action packed full of outdoor fun and learning. Campers are
taught kayaking skills and rescues on Cusheon Lake, then move to the
ocean later on in the week. They learn climbing techniques at the
indoor gym and then head outdoors to climb on Mt Maxwell. Swimming,
hiking, outdoor initiative games, intertidal walks and camping skills
are just some of the activities in this camp. The five day camp
culminates in an overnight expedition at Ruckle Park, the camp also
paddles out to Chocolate Beach!

4-Day Overnight Camp
We
have put together a New Camp for this season. It is for campers
that are 11-14 years old who would like to attend an overnight Camp but
don't want to be out for 5 nights and 6 days. This Four Day
Overnight Camp start Aug. 3rd-6th and is a Kayak Based Camp where we
are on Expedition for three nights. We spend the first night at
Ruckle Park after a full day of Strokes and Rescues on Cusheon Lake.
The following day we head out to Prevost National Park. We
circumnavigate the Island on day three, passing a large Seal Colony and
stopping at some secret hidden midden beaches. On the last day we
head up to the largest Walker Hook Beach, the largest
white shell midden in the Gulf Islands. We have lunch and then
get picked up just north of Walker Hook. It's back to the lake to
say our good-byes and do our closing activities. This camp is a
great way to get your feet wet for our expedition based programs and
gives you a taste of the wildlife and beaches of the Gulf
Islands.
Overnight
Marine Based The
emphasis of this program is on ocean kayaking and wilderness camping.
Whether complete novices or seasoned paddlers, the marine camp is
designed to introduce or enhance individual knowledge of kayak strokes
and rescues. After a day of training on Cusheon lake and a night
camping at Ruckle Park, the group embarks on a 5 day Kayak Expedition
in the Gulf Islands. This year we will utilize the northern Gulf
Islands and access Blackberry Point on Valdez, Pirates Cove on De
Courcy plus Dionisio and Wallace Islands.(Options to camp on Prevost
& Cabbage Island if weather permits.)
Overnight Marine Camp: July 8 -
14, August 12 - 18 ... $875
(Ages 11 - 13) August 7 - 10. . . $490
Two Week Kayak & Surf
This
program is an excellent combination of kayaking in the Gulf Islands
with a Pacific Rim Surfing excursion. Students are taught by seasoned
instructors and are provided with all the necessary equipment. Base
skills are learned prior to going out on both expeditions with a day of
training on Salt Spring in both weeks. Paddling will head out into the
northern Gulf Island, for the Kayak expedition and to Ucluelet on the
west coast of Vancouver Island for the surf program. Campers gain a
solid outdoor skill base while building a strong appreciation for west
coast water based activities. Safety, skill acquisition, friendship,
team building and most of all fun are the goals for this two week
program.
Our talented
team works with veteran surfer/instructor Marc Fuller of "Deep Snow
& Surf". This program is a perfect mix of surfing & lessons,
camping, hiking and a whole lot of west coast fun. All surf gear is
provided and our base at the Ucluelet campground offers nice amenities,
including a hot tub. We surf several beaches around the Tofino/Pacific
Rim region culminating with a surf competition & a day of Surf
Olympics. This one week program can be combined with the August Marine
Kayaking camp for the 2 Week Surf & Kayak Program on Aug. 9th -
22nd.
Dates: West Coast Surf Camp: August 19 - 24 . . . $975
Overnight Mountaineering A day of climbing on Salt Spring and a
night camping at Ruckle park and then we head over to Mt. Arrowsmith on
Vancouver Island. This is the third highest peak on the Island and
offers breath taking scenery, good climbing and a quick ascent up into
the high alpine. We climb two peaks during the week, each day returning
to our base camp below the saddle of Mt. Koklee. Highlights include
boot skiing, spectacular sunsets, and swimming in the glacier lake
which may even have an iceberg in it!
Overnight West Coast Experience This is the ultimate wilderness adventure
program, a combination of both our Marine and Mountain Camps. Students
will acquire a broad base of skills in kayaking, ocean navigation,
mountaineering, climbing and survival skills. Participants achieve a
high level of competence in many activities. The program is diverse,
challenging and exhilarating.
